“I have both the communication chip and the fifty million kryts–surely that qualifies me to board now, doesn’t it?” Raven said calmly, meeting the staff member’s gaze with composed confidence.
The staff member reluctantly nodded and gestured for her to proceed. “But before you go in, we’ll need to verify the identity linked to your communication chip.”
“No problem,” Raven replied smoothly, removing the communication chip from her phone and handing it over to the staff member without hesitation.
The staff member returned to the office to verify the communication chip, a necessary step to prevent anyone from falsely posing as a Forrebian.
As the staff member ran the verification, a middle–aged man seated nearby caught a glimpse of the identity displayed on the chip. To everyone’s surprise, he suddenly rose. from his chair, visibly shaken.
“Raven Valor?” he murmured, eyes locked on the chip’s screen, as if desperately trying to recall something. ‘Why does that name sound so familiar?‘ he wondered.
Then he stopped the staff member about to leave and pressed urgently, “Who handed you that communication chip?”
“It was a young girl,” the staff member replied. “She looked Vyrdenian, so I’ve no idea how she got hold of a Forrebian chip. But the strange thing is–she made a call just now, and somehow secured fifty million kryts almost instantly.
“She was dressed in cheap clothes–nothing about her looked like she came from money. Do you think she might be a fraud? Maybe we should stop her before she boards for Forreb.”
“She has the chip and fifty million kryts, so by the rules, we should let her through.” The middle–aged man paused momentarily, then added, “Go ahead and let her pass.”
The middle–aged man turned his attention to the surveillance monitor. He spotted Raven’s figure as he scanned the crowd outside the spatial point. Pointing at her, he asked, “Is that her?”
“Yes, the communication chip belongs to her.”
Just as the middle–aged man was about to speak again, his phone suddenly rang. ” Hello? Mr. Larsson, what can I do for you, calling personally?” he answered.
He then reported, “Lord George already left; he spent some time in Broson City, in the Sunset Empire. Afterward, Lord Keegan arrived, but he headed straight to Regalhold in Vyrdenia. His stay there was brief–he only stayed for a day before leaving.

“He didn’t return with anyone, but he did take a person, who was in a vegetative state, with him. I’m not sure of that person’s identity. As for why Lord George stayed so long in Broson City, I’m not sure either. Mr. Larsson, could it be…” The middle–aged man lowered his voice, trailing off.
“Could the girl who died five years ago have been Lord George’s disciple? After her death, Lord George started searching for his disciple. What if…” The middle–aged man‘ s voice trailed off, his tone heavy with unspoken suspicion.
“Shut up!” A furious roar suddenly erupted from the phone’s other end, deafening in intensity. “Impossible! Impossible! It must be a coincidence! We found that girl in Frihamen City back then–how could Lord George’s disciple be in a tertiary city? That’s not possible!
“And besides, that girl is already dead, isn’t she? You saw her fall into the Spatial Gate with your own eyes. A regular person can’t survive the pressure of the gate–she must have been disintegrated into nothing!”
He had seen Raven fall into the Spatial Gate indeed. But then, a thought suddenly flashed through the middle–aged man’s mind.
Although it had seemed like they had forced the young girl into a corner with no way out, there had been no fear on her face. It was as though she had already foreseen the outcome. Even when she fell into the Spatial Gate, she had remained composed and
calm.
The middle–aged man suddenly recalled why the name seemed so familiar. The girl they had forced into the Spatial Gate before had also been named Raven Valor.
